The 7th Annual Research Conference at UAE University 22 – 24, April 2006

The important missions of UAEU as modern University aimed at accelerating the comprehensive social and economic development of the society through the academic studies and training programs offered to the students. There are several graduate programs in UAEU which expand the teaching and research activities of the institution in connection with the UAE culture.

The results of the research have a significant contribution to the development of the country. The studies and programs are oriented to provide services and consultation to the public and private sectors in the Country, and to develop the concept of finding scientifically based solutions for the Country's problems. In addition, the university benefits from the results of graduate studies to develop undergraduate programs.

Professor Abdel-Hamid Mourad exposed us some of the posters of different researches conducted by him with his colleagues in the college of engineering. All of the researches are of practical nature and represent results of different research projects supported by the Research Affairs in the UAEU.

The research affairs of the UAEU support different types of funded research programs, which are individual and interdisciplinary. There are also externally funded research programs. These activities will be presented in the 7th Annual
Research Conference from 22 - 24, April 2006.

All Research activities will develop human resources skills and promote the role of organizations in speeding up the development drive in society. All achievements indicate an inspiring beginning which reinforces the commitment of the contributing faculty members of the United Arab Emirates University.

Finally, this Research Conference will build and maintain a strong ethical platform for all aspects of the Centre's research and internal operations, and serve as a role model within the University and the broader society to enhance safety.

Furthermore, Prof Mourad has briefed about the different activities of the Mech. Eng. Dept, like teaching, research, university development and community services.

Mechanical engineering involves the creative design, manufacturing, testing, evaluation, and distribution of such devices as automobiles, home appliances, spacecrafts, rocket engines, air conditioning equipment, nuclear and fossil fuel power plants, controls, robotics, and many types of instruments. This is one of the broadest and oldest branches of engineering.

The mission of the Mechanical Engineering Department is to provide high quality education in mechanical engineering to prepare graduates for diverse careers in mechanical engineering, to contribute to the expansion of Country’s economical development, and to meet the needs of the UAE industry and society. As the primer national department of mechanical engineering, the department vision is to be the region’s innovative leader in providing excellent mechanical engineering education, conducting a high quality applied research and serving industry and government agencies in UAE and beyond. This department has established five program educational objectives based upon contributions and needs of its constituents.
