The University of New Brunswick: Embracing the changing world through innovative programs offered in innovative markets

Students wishing to maintain a competitive edge must invest in programs designed to provide them the tools required to thrive in today’s dynamic world. The proliferation of information technology and mass computing has propelled a data driven economy. Companies who become the most adept at efficiently processing information have emerged as the winners. The past decade has seen a rampant thrust in the adoption of enterprise solutions and other data analysis tools as companies strive to find their place in the new economy. These companies are seeking employees who not only understand the importance of information and data, but know how to translate them into solid business results. It is on this premise that the University of New Brunswick (UNB) combined its strengths in business management and data analysis education to develop the Bachelor of Information Science (BISc) degree.

The new 4-year BISc degree at UNB is specifically designed to develop students’ ability to scientifically approach the managerial problems facing today’s skilled employees.

Dr. Deborah L. MacLatchy
Dean, Faculty of Science, Applied Science and Engineering
Professor of Biology, Fellow Canadian Rivers Institute

Given the recent emergence of Dubai as a major hub for economic activity and global corporate investment in the Middle East, UNB is pleased to be able to offer such a competitive program to students in a market where innovative and relevant skill sets are going to be essential. Set to launch in September 2006, as the first Canadian institution of higher learning to establish in the Knowledge Village, UNB is positioned to be a key driver in sustaining the present momentum for Dubai, the United Arab Emirates and the entire Gulf region. We look forward to the challenge.
