CANADIAN UNIVERSITY TEAMS WITH KNOWLEDGE VILLAGE TO OFFER INFORMATION SCIENCE DEGREE

This September, students will be able to enroll in a Canadian bachelor’s degree at Knowledge Village in Dubai. This specialized degree, will equip graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in today’s high-tech world of management and administration, and is being offered in partnership with the University of New Brunswick, Saint John—Canada’s oldest established public institution of higher learning.

The Bachelor of Information Science is an interdisciplinary degree designed to give students an information technology, business and economics education they will be able to apply anywhere in the world. In addition to specific information technology and business practice knowledge, students will develop outstanding analytical, problem-solving and personal communication skills. Successful graduates can expect to secure employment in such fields as: banking and investments, public and private sector statistical analysis and forecasting, government finance, and public policy institute research and analysis.

“Private and public sector employers today require people to understand complex information technologies and to possess insightful global management capabilities. Our Bachelor of Information Science degree will provide students with those and much more,” said Dr. Deborah MacLatchy, Dean of Science, Applied Science and Engineering, UNB, Saint John.

Computer programming, mathematics, business and economics constitute the first year of the program. In addition to instructors and facilities at UNB Dubai’s Knowledge Village campus, as UNB students the participants will have access to the university’s resources (library, faculty advisors, etc.) via the Internet. Students will be able to continue their second year of study at Knowledge Village or transfer to the UNB Saint John campus to complete the degree or switch to another program such as Business, Computer Science, Math or Economics.

Founded in 1785, the University of New Brunswick is one of the oldest universities in North America. During more than two centuries as a degree-granting institution it has graduated scores of students who have gone on to become leaders in their chosen fields throughout Canada and around the world.
